Calliope Conference 2007: Call for Presenters

Calliope is a conference for adolescent girls focused on creativity, arts, media and social change. Our mission is to connect adolescent girls with women in the community who are doing artistic and/or socially innovative work, to provide girls with role models and arts mentorship opportunities, and to create a network for creative girls.

Presenters will be asked to engage girls in an activity or performance and then to talk about their work, their experiences, the reality of working "outside the box," and to share strategies. A variety of formats are possible. Most of the sessions will focus on young women in the arts and media, some on social innovation, and some that combine the two.

We are looking for women diverse in life experience who can relate well with the young participants at the conference. While there is no age limit and we welcome proposals from all women working as artists and/or activists, we may give preference to those who are in the earlier stages of their careers.
